2.4 - Parameters
Parameter scope
When configuring a modular product in the Product Configurator, you will have two ways or changing the value of a parameter.
Local parameter
When a parameter is local: you select a module, change it's color, and it's only applied to this module.
Global parameter
When a parameter is global: you do not select a module, change the main color, and it's applied to every module in the current composition.
A global parameter will only be displayed in the UI if it's currently available on at least one of the modules.
Creation of a parameter
You may want a parameter to be local only, global only, or both. Refer to this table to know where and how to declare this parameter.
Local Only | Global Only | Local and Global | |
---|---|---|---|
Modular Context parameter | Not declared | Declared as "Read & Write" | Declared as "Read & Write" |
Module parameter | Declared as "Read & Write" | Declared as "None" | Declared as "Read & Write" |
Use parameter definitions and/or parameter sets to define the parameters of your modules. Then you can use the same definition / sets on the modular context product.
